A clocl for the worlds longest sidebar

I thought something weird would be good to put on the worlds longest sidebar. After all the idea of a long sidebar is itself rather very weird.Call it what you like to call it internet clock, website clock, blog clock. Most are flash powered with elaborate animation.

This is a simple clock but you can customize it all you like. Other flash clocks will be added here sometime.

The very idea of needing a clock on a computer is redundant as these are provided by most operating systems.

ClustrMaps

Just now i added the clustr Map to my blog. It shows from where visitors came to your site. Thats a good one....it will be rather a good indicator of the peoples intrests in various topics. The free version can be got very easily just paste the html code and its done.
You can get your own at http://clustrmaps.com/index.htm . It looks something like the picture when you zoom in. It nicely fits into your sidebar. The worlds longest sidebar suerly needs this one.

"See at a glance where your site's visitors are located: instantaneously, even when the numbers are enormous! Visitors don't need to click on anything: just viewing your page is sufficient."

Why Buttons are technically incorrect?

Many might feel that the use of buttons to provide links is waste of resources as a simple HTML link would suffice. Indeed these buttons are taxing not only on one server but on many as they can be present on different servers as well.

But still we use them and use them with joy...Now i add more buttons for RSS feed for the worlds longest sidebar.

What is RSS?

RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" -- it's a format for distributing and gathering content from sources across the Web, including newspapers, magazines, and blogs. RSS readers are plenty. Take a look at the google reader button. Its also a online feed reader. It is still supossed to be in the "lab" stage though.

Technorati-add to favorites

You can add your blog to the technorati listing by claiming it as your own. PLs note that this is not possible for websites. Though it may become possible later. After claiming your blog you can add aad to favorite buttons just like Delicious. Take a look at the buttons they have to offer

Standard button- its a little small

Add to Technorati Favorites

The button looks better in its customised form though.

Add to Technorati Favorites
I added both to the sidebar to bring out the contrast. But their function remains the same.

Tagging services-Tag the worlds longest side bar

Tagging service like Delicious play a very important role in popularising any content. So if you have a blog and want to tell others about it. You need to allow others to bookmark it. The best way is to provide a button which directly takes your visitors to the tagging site.

Take a look at this button for delicious. You can even specify the title and notes which can then be modified suitably by your viewer before bookmarking.

You can take a look at the source to understand the format for specifying the title and notes for your site or blog.

The first few buttons

I am adding the first few buttons to the worlds longest sidebar. The buttons are the "Whats a klog" button and the "Whats NHTML" button. Both of these are Technology related buttons.
Take a look at them here as well

Klog is a short form for Link Log.

NHTML or Numerous Hyperlinks is one of the unique ways of providing links.

I am also adding a site meter to track the site. I feel a side bar is incomplete without a site meter. So the longest sidebar should surely have one

The blog with the longest sidebar in the world

The blog with the longest sidebar in the whole wide world. If you have a item which fits on this sidebar let me know. Lets put it on the worlds longest sidebar.
